Paul 'Pablo Eyes' Lewis is a Manchester based sound designer, composer and producer for theatre and film.
Taking his roots in Hip Hop, Jazz and Funk, it was the sounds of Timbaland, The Neptunes, DJ Premier, RZA and Madlib that first led to him to become an avid collector of Hip Hop and a beatmaker in the late 1990s.
An internship as a studio engineer for Hip Hop group Foreign Beggars helped him to develop these skills further and obtain his first engineering credit, on their song 'Break Free', from their 2009 album 'United Colours of Beggattron'.
Delving deeper into his craft, Pablo Eyes first learned to play the guitar and keys, before discovering bass guitar to be his main instrument. This changed how he made music, as he began focusing on instrumentation and found sounds.
Through the network Filmonik, Pablo Eyes started to collaborate with film makers to create scores for short films, with one of his earliest collaborations, 'The Princess Strikes Back', receiving international exposure on the festival circuit and winning numerous awards.
Soon after, he secured his first theatre commission, as a composer and sound designer for a scratch performance of a play devised by a small team of theatre makers for the Royal Exchange Theatre.
Alongside facilitating other people’s projects, Pablo Eyes has started the journey of developing his own artistic voice, the first step being his debut EP, 'Knock Down Ginger'.
Whether playing bass, designing sound, composing a score, making a beat or producing a project, Pablo Eyes strives to keep it funky, ambitious and honest!
